Marvel's 'The Eternals' - Who's Who?
Updated: Oct 29, 2020
Despite its diverse and well known cast of actors., unless you're a comic book fan you won't know much about the characters, so let's get to work.
First of who and what are the Eternals? short story: Ancient subspecies of human with god like abilities.
In the Marvel comics, ancient aliens called the Celestials (might remember the name from Guardians of the Galaxy) decided to experiment on primitive alien life because.... reasons. Anyways the celestials did this to the first humans (Homo Erectus) creating three sub species: Nezar the Calculator created the perfectly beautiful and god like Eternals (Homo Imortalis aka the Peng super humans). Ziran the Tester created the terrifyingly malformed Deviants (Homo Descendus aka the Clapped and Butters ones) and finally Oneg the Prober created the Latents (Humans with latent gene to either become a Mutant like the X-Men or Mutates like Spiderman, Hulk, Fantastic four).
The Eternals and Deviants used to fight throughout human history with the Eternals being mistaken for many legendary and mythological characters throughout history and the Deviants being the inspiration for monsters like the minotaur, cyclops, trolls, etc. At some point the Eternals left Earth to settle on Titan (one of Saturns moons) this is also where Thanos is from as he is an Eternal but his appearance is caused by Deviant Syndrome (making him look like a Deviant). The Deviants stayed hidden on Earth after a truce with the Eternals.
Nationality: American (Honourary Cambodian)
Athletic ability: SAS training, CQC, Muay Thai, Krav Maga, Bungee Ballet, Yoga, Sword training,
Family: Daughter of actors Jon Voight, Macheline Bertrand, sister of James Haven, niece of singer/song writer Chip Taylor and geologist Barry Voight
Trivia: Adopted children from Cambodia, Ehtiopia and Vietnam.
American Hollywood Superstar Angelina Jolie is one of the many big names joining the cast of Eternals so not much introduction is needed or explanation as to who she is is necessary. She will be starring as the inhuman leader Thena. Thena was actually born with the name Azura, however her father changed her name to Thena after the Greek Goddess Athena due to the Eternals making a deal to represent the Greek Gods on Earth (dont ask). Either way according to Marvel, Thena basically impersonated Athena through out human history. She is known to have a conflicting romance with the Deviant Kro and even conceived twins with him during the Vietnam War leaving her children in the care of the Infertile Ms.Ritter who named them Donald and Deborah (collectively can merge into a single being called Dark Angel). Thena's romance with the Eternals enemy, a Deviant is believed to be why she may come across as a conflicted leader in this film. Thena as a variety of baseline Eternal powers: Super strength, speed, stamina, durability, healing, (so everything humans can do but better), she also possess psychic powers like telepathy. matter and energy manipulation, teleportation, flight and immortality (all eternals have this btw). What makes her stand out is her superior talent as a leader and a fighter, Angelina Jolie's previous experience on Tomb Raider as Lara Croft has her perform most of her own stunt and train in variety of sports. Why she may not be convincingly Greek (Thena is from Olympia former Earth base for the Greek God). Her Slovak ancestry is the closest we are getting. Her training in CQC, Swords, Muay Thai, Krav Maga and SAS weaponry will serve her well for this character.
Athletic Ability: Marathon Runner
Family: Father is a firefighter, Mother is a classroom assistant
Trivia: Was formerly overweight and shy as a Teenager. Joined a youth Theatre to overcome his shyness
Game of Thrones star Richard Madden has been casted as Ikaris. Best known for his role as Rob Stark. Richard Madden maybe more appropriate for his character for both Rob Stark and Ikaris have a history of being legendary heroes in a historical, medieval like setting. Ikaris is a second gen Eternal much like Thena also his real name is unknown but uses his deceased son's name Ikaris as his main alias. However unlike Thena he is native to Polaria (now part of modern day Siberia). He is famed for many acts of heroism through out Marvel history. During The Great Catalysm (Marvel's name for the Deludge) which sunk Atlantis, Ikaris was the influence of Archangel Uriel who guided the Ark to safety with Upnapishtim being the Arks builder (referencing the Abrahamic Myth of Noahs Ark and Flood Myth from Epics of Gilgamesh). He was also fought in a Greek Labrynth against a Minotaur looking Deviant thus influencing the Theseus and the Minotuar story. Ikaris would then marry a human woman from Crete and sire a son named Ikaris, but due to his duties to protect humanity, he could not spend much time with them. His son "Ikaris" was given a flying device as a gift from his dad but after the death of his mother and with his Dad's frequent absences, Ikaris decided to find his Father but naively flew too high and suffocated to death (mirroring the Icarus flew too close to the sun myth). Since his son's death Ikaris took on his child's name as his own to honour and remember him. Powerset wise Ikaris has all the powers of the Eternals as list above for Thena and he does not have angel wings despite his history. However he is among many of Marvel Superman wannabes/copycats (others being Sentry, Hyperion, Blue Marvel, Gladiator, etc). All the powers Superman and the Eternals share (like flight and super strength) Ikaris has those maxed out, with the drawback is weaker than average for other powers like teleporting. But Ikaris possesses super senses and heat vision which are very unique to himself. Richard Madden maybe an unusual choice for the character when considering he is a 5'10" slim Dark haired Scotsman and Ikaris is a 6'2" Blond hair blue eyed anceint Siberian Superman (tho Siberians typically dont have Blond hair or Blue Eyes in fact they are very east and central asian looking). Its likely Richard Madden popularity as a potential dueretagonist to Angelina's protagonist will be played up here. Ikaris characterisation may focus on his mourning of his son and wife. Physique wise Madden may not be tall and muscular but he has been cross training with weights and cardio since game of thrones so we will not be surpried if he rocks up looking bulkier than his appearence in Bodyguard. Here's a bit of Heimedall chasing Ikaris.
Nationality: Pakistani American (dual Nationality after immigrating)
Ethnicity: Sindhi (Shia Muslim Family)
Athletic Ability: possibly Gymnastics, Silat, BJJ, Wrestling Muay Thai, Wushu, currently bodybuilding
Family: Second cousin of Scottish Radio Presenter Shereen Nanjiani. Husband to writer and producer Emily V.Gordon
Trivia: was raised a Shia Muslim but is agnostic
Role: Kingo Sunen
Kingo Sunen from the comics is an Eternal from 17th century Japan. One of the more recent generations. He was Samurai and influence the locals on legends of the samurai and possibly the idea of using ones Chi or Hado as a weapon (as we seen in many Japanese media like Dragonball, Naruto and Street Fighter) when you consider the eternals have energy manipulation related abilities this makes sense. Many fans would have assumed a Japanese actor with a Kendo background was the obvious choice for this character, with actors like Hiroyuki Sanada, Tsuyoshi Ihara and Kane Kosugi being popular choices. However instead we have Pakistani American comedian Kumail Nanjiani. Surprised? well this is probably how everyone reacted to Mehcad Brooks as Jimmy Olson in Supergirl too. It seem to be that this version of Kingo will be based among the Indus Valley empire and rather than being a Samurai, he will be Rajput type of warrior who uses Sqay or Gatka techniques (if looking at Kumail's Asian heritage). Whilst there are some South Asian talent they could have turned to for martial arts ability. Comedian Kumail Nanjiani may seem like an entirely odd choice considering his lack of action or athletic expereince. But since his role in Stuber, he has taken up body building and likely has picked up on his co-stars martial arts abilities. With his co-starDave Bautista being a wrestler with Muay Thai, Wushu and Brazilian Jujutsu under his belt and the antagonist Iko Uwais being a master of Pencak Silat. It is likely Kumail has been taking an interest in martial arts as of late and time will tell how far he has come in his training. Now lets watch a partially blind human Drax vs a wimpy Uber human Kingo.
Ethnicity: Black Latina (Unspecifically Mexican and African American)
Athletic Ability: Martial arts (possibly Aikido) from Walking Dead
Family: Married to Douglas Ridloff (birthed two children)
Trivia: She is deaf
If you thought Kingo was a huge surprise. Well lets look at who Makkari is. Much like Thena and Ikaris. Makkari has also impersonated a god/mythical figure. Guess which one? Mercury. But that not the only name Makkari has used over the centuries. Hermes, Thoth, Harry Kane (not the footballer), Hurricane, Mike Kahry, Mike Khary, Michael Grey and Mark Curry. (At least he didn't use Mike Oxmaul). Makkari is the speedster of the Eternals, he supposedly weaken his other powers like telepathy. telekinesis, energy control in favour of extreme super human speed. He is essentially the Fastest Eternal. Much like Thena he is Greek and originates from the same city Olympia. Much of his history involves fighting with Kro throughout their many guises and identities. Under the disguise of Hurricane son of Thor, he had teamed up with Namor the SubMariner and Captain America. Even had a sidekick named Speedy (Arsenal/Red Arrow might sue). So the casting of Lauren Ridloff may seem like a surprise. A little physics logic, whilst it may seem strange that Makkari is going to be portrayed as deaf, realistically if Makkari runs faster than the speed of sound how would he hear at that speed since sound is too slow for him? Regardless of this Laruen Ridloff is the first disabled actor/actress in the MCU to be playing a role. She is also one of the 3 gender swapped characters in this film, it is currently unknown as to how this will play out in the film as most of Makkari's aliases and storylines have indicated he is male not gender neutral. But as Ridloff is deaf this makes Makarri the first deaf hero in the MCU (unless Hawkeye is revealed to be deaf like he is in the comics). Other disabled characters in marvel range from Paraplegic Professor X and Blind Daredevil to technical or voluntarily disabled characters like Blackbolt (who is voluntary mute) and Cyclops (voluntary blind without visors). Ridloff's Afro-Latina heritage may not match Makarri's Greek/Mediteranean heritage so it is likely that Makarri in this version will maybe impersonate mythological figures from Indigenous American cultures and African cultures (Thoth the Egyptian deity is African and one of Makarri's disguises). Ridloff is best known for her work in the Walking Dead as deaf survivor Connie and much like most of the cast she had go through basic combat training using knifes, slingshots and hand to hand combat techniques. Time to watch a bad ass deaf woman save a baby from zombies.
Ethnicity: Black (unspecific)
Athletic Ability: None
Family: Father was a soldier, Mother was an educator
Trivia: was nominated for an emmy for his role in Atlanta
Joining the cast is aswell is Bryan Tyree Henry as the blacksmith Phastos. Pashtos is an eternal and much like Thena is from Olympia, Greece where he impersonated Hephaestus the Greek God. He is noted for also being the blacksmith of Kingo Sunen's sword so we can expect somekind of friendship or pofessional relationship between Nanjiani and Henry's respective characters. Unlike most of the other Eternals, Phastos is more brains than brawn prefering to be the thinker rather than the fighter (doesn't stop him from using his own hammer). Bryan Tyree Henry may stand at an imposing 6'2" much like Phastos does in the comics. However Henry is less of an action star and more focused on vocal acting. It is unknown if this version of Phastos will still be associated with the greek myths however some beleive that Henry's version of Phastos could impersonate an Orisha (African deity) from Nigeria if going by Henry's ethnicity. Henry himself already has experince in the superhero genre voice acting as Policeman Jefferson Davis in the Spiderverse Animated film, which also plays similar to his role as a detective in Child's Play. He also makes an appearence as Carl in Joker (Joaquin Phoenix film) and will also be appearing in the upcoming Godzilla vs Kong. So dont go sleeping on him any time soon. He was nominated for Atlanta for a reason.
Nationality: Mexican (Naturalised American)
Ethnicity: Lebanese and Spanish
Athletic Abilty: Belly Dance, Yoga
Family: Father Sami Hayek Dominguez is a CEO of an Oil company in Mexico. Diana Jimenez Medina is a talent scout and opera singer.
Trivia: Has Dyslexia and ADHD
Another role in which the character and actor have had the backgrounds and gender switch around. In the comics, Ajak much like Ikaris is from Polaria and is indegenous Siberian. While his comic counter part looks more like a Siberian than the blond haired blue eyed Ikaris, he also has passed himself off as a Greek God specifically Ajax (not Ed Skrein's character in Deadpool that's Francis) and later fought against the Deviant Kro in Babylon, but much of his life after that was being worship by the Aztecs as the diety Quetzalcoatl and the Incans as the deity Tecomotzin, Lord of Flight. Yet again much of Ajak's history shows he is male and not gender neutral, he imposated many masculine deities and the fictional alias of Tecomotzin Lord of Flight does not exist in the real world. It is possible that Salma Hayeks Eurasian heritage might indicate that this version of Ajak is not native to Siberia and is in fact either Asian (specifically Babylonian/Iraqi matching her fathers Lebanese heritage) or from the mediterannean (specifically Greek, Salma's Lebanese and Spanish heritage are counted as Mediterannean). Much like Ajak's comic counterpart, Salma being from Mexico fits the Latin American heritage of Ajak when he bases himself there despite not being indengenous to the area (much like Salma is not of Indegenous or Mestizo descent). It is confirmed that an Aztec/Incan like setting has been filmed for the Eternals and it is likely centred around Salma's Ajak but rather than impersonating male deities, it is likely the MCU Incans worship Ajak as the Tecomotzin Lady of Flight (as opposed to Lord of Flight in the comics). Salma may not have the Wrestling background that Ajak possesses in the comics, she is known for her dancing and practices Yoga in her free time. She also has thrown down a few moves with Penelope Cruz in Bandidas and displayed some impressive moves in The Hitman's Bodyguard. It is likely as Salma is in her 50s, her portrayal of Ajak will be more of an older wiser member of the Eternals as she is the eldest in the cast but true to form Salma does not look like shes aged much past her late 20s. Is she a Homo Immortalus in real life or is it just Asians dont raisin? Nows heres a clip of Nick Fury explaining to Deadpool about the time he met Ajak.
Ethnicity: White (uspecific)
Athletic Ability: None
Family: Born to an acting family.
Trivia: Younger sibling Gavin has Cerebral Palsy
Sprite is welll interesting to say the least. In the comics Sprite is a male Eternal who is physically stuck looking 13 despite being over 1000s of years old. Let that sink in because if you watched Orphan or know about the Natalia Grace case, you know how dark a story can be for an Adult to be stuck looking like a child. Unlike the rest of the stoic, mature and noble eternals. Sprite acts the way he looks. He is a prankster and enjoys using his telepathic illusions and matter manipulations to mess around with the Eternals and Humans alike. He is said to be the inspiration for Shakespears Puck as well as Peterpan. Making him one of the few Eternals to not impersonate a Diety. When all the eternals formed something called the Unimind to communicate with the Host Celestials during the 4th host (long story cant explain), Sprite backed out and unleashed Gilgamesh from his confinement to confront a deviant ship that was about to collide with the Celestials. Considering all this, Lia McHugh's portrayal of Sprite may stay true to the source material as an immature prankster, but female rather than male. However in the comics Zuras had Gilgamesh and Sprite punished by making the two share responsibility for each other actions. In the film we may expect a more heartwarming friendship between Gilgamesh and Sprite being a bad ass Oldman and Child duo (maybe similar to Logan and X-23). Not much is known about Lia McHugh aside from having roles in Totem, the Lodge and Into the Dark. All three being horror/thriller films may indicate she has no problems with some of Sprites slightly sinister aspects from the comics, lets hope she is not the MCUs equivalant to the real life Natalia Grace. That would be scary.
(born Lee Dong-Seok) aka Don Lee
Nationality: South Korean and American (dual nationality after Immigrating)
Athletic Ability: Qualified Personal Trainer, likely Wrestling, boxing, Brazilian Jujutsu
Family: dating Sports reporter and media personality Ye Jung-Hwa
Trivia: Former Personal trainer to MMA fighters Mark Coleman and Kevin Randleman
The Forgotton One born even before the Ice Age and one of the Oldest known eternals. Gilgamesh was essentially known for one thing only. Deviant slaying. Much like his namesake he is Muscular hero and warrior and even was the influence for Samson from Abrahamic religions and Hercules from Greek myths. He even befriended and fought alongside Hercules, as well as becoming friends with King David of Bethlehem, Aeneas and Achilles. Its fair to say that Gilgamesh has a lot of expereince under his belt from the Asia to Europe even becoming King of Sumeria (Iraq) like the real Gilgamesh. Essentially the he is Hulk of the Eternals, he is a West Asian 6'5" warrior and is physically the strongest eternal. The casting of 5'9" Korean actor Don Lee may seem strange. Don Lee's Korean heritage does not match Gilgamesh's Iraqi background neither does he fit the height. However Don Lee is far from diminutive as he is a very musclar and bulky man with expereince in Personal Training. Considering two of his clients are MMA fighter Mark Coleman and Kevin Randleman. We can assume Don Lee will most likely get to show off his action skills in Wrestling (Colemans speciality), Boxing and Brazillian jujutsu (Randleman styles). It could be possible this version of Gilgamesh may be from Polaria, Siberia or somewhere in the Far East of Asia and thus be more based off an Oriental Asian hero. In Changsega (Korean myths) there are two giant figures, Mireuk and Seogka who fought for the right to rule the world. Seogka cheated to win and is beleived to be originator for sin and evil. The Cheonjiwang Bonpuri (another Korean myth) involves diety brothers Sobyeolwang and Sumyeongjangja competing to rule the human world. Sobyeolwang wins and has Sumyeongjanja turned into an insect (maybe an Insect deviant will be present in the MCU version of Gilgamesh's story). It is possible the MCU Gilgamesh will not be referred to as any of his European or West Asian names in favour of a more appropriate East Asian name to fit Don Lee's background. It is unknown if Don Lee's Gilgamesh will be giagantic through CGI or a pintsize powerhouse. Now lets check out Don Lee's fighting skills in Outlaws.
Athletic Ability: Boxing
Family: Spent 7 years in 13 foster homes with his brother before raised by his grandmother and aunt
Trivia: Almost debuted as a boxer in 2017 at Celtic Box Cub
Druig another Polarian (Siberian) Eternal. This time unlike his cousin Ikaris, he never impersonated any mythical figure or dieties. Considering Ikaris is played by Scottish actor Richard Madden and Irish Barry Keognan is portraying the cousin Druig. It is possible the MCU version of Polaria will not be in Siberia but rather it will be relocated in the British Isles instead. Druig in the comics is known to be a power hungry Eternal whose dissappointed father turns a blind eye to his sons flaws. Druig unintentionally causes the death of his uncle Virako (Ikaris' Farther) and thus Valkin (Druig's father) adopts Ikaris causing a jealous rift between the two cousins. So lets not be surprised if this Cain vs Abel like storyline plays out in the MCU. Druig also corrupts several Eternals to his cause so that he and Ikaris end up coming to blows (much like T'Challa and N'Jadaku). In the end however Druig, Ikaris, the Eternals and the X-Men all team up to fight off an Alien invasion called the Horde so we could expect a heroic change of heart much like Nebula and Loki. Barry Keoghnans best known roles have been Martin in The Killing of the Sacred Deer and Wayne in Irish tv series Love/Hate in which he portrays sadistic villains perfect for the role of Druig.
Ethnicity: Han Chinese
Athletic Ability: possibly Judo, Boxing and Wrestling
Family: Father is from Hong Kong, Mother is from Mainland China
Trivia: Graduated from Oxford to be a Lawyer
Sersi in the marvel comics is said to be a fourth generation Eternal (so one of the younger ones) yet she was also a child during Gilgamesh's reign during the Sumerian times so... Its not clear how long Eternals take to age. Sersi much like the other Olympian Eternals was the influence for Circe the greek goddess that transformed Odysseus' crew into pigs. Her main abilities revolve around telepathy and illusions and matter manipulation. She is essentially Asgards Lorelei and Enchantress for the Eternals. In the marvel comics she turns them back however, she assisted in containing evils into Pandora's box and worked with Merlin during the Camelot times. One of her notable traits is being fairly hedonistic to a point where she supposedly has slept with every male Eternal (barring Sprite). This actually is similar to Gemma Chans recurring role in Fresh Meat as Ruth who is portrayed as very promiscuous and not interested in monogamy. Despite this Chan has plenty of other well known roles (Sci-Fi especially) ranging from Mia Bennet in Doctor Who, Soo Lin Yao in Sherlock, Amy Chang in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, Madam Ya Zhou in Fantastic Beasts, Quintessa in Transformers: The Last Knight, Synthetic human Mia/Anita in Humans and Astrid Young Teo in Crazy Rich Asians. Whilst Gemma Chan's Chinese heritage does not match with Sersi's Greek, however whats more thought provoking is Gemma Chan is one of few actors to play more than one role in the MCU. She appeared as Kree villain Minn-Erva in Captain Marvel opposite Brei Larson. Whilst many actors have had minor non-comics based roles before reappearing as major ones (such as Afre Woodard, Matt Gerald, Lou Ferrigino). Gemma Chan joins the likes of Clancy Brown and Mahershala Ali who have play multiple comic roles. In the case of Brown and Ali they played villains from the netflix show that Kevein Feige has now declared no longer canon (what a waste of all that hard work) so Brown's Schoonover and Ali's Stokes have no existance in the MCU anymore alongside the likes of Brown's Surtur and Ali's upcomng Blade. Chan's Minn-Erva (dead as she maybe) still is canonically part of the same universe as Sersi. So as great as Gemma Chan is (trust me watch Humans for her best performance on British TV), it feels lazy on Marvels part for reusing the same actor or actress for another comic character, especially one year alter. Action wise Gemma Chan is likely trained in combat for her role in Captain Marvel. Larson had trained in Wrestling, Boxing and Judo so it can be fair to assume the same for Chan as Minn-Erva. Sersi maybe the LGBT hero Kevin Feige was referring to, as one of Sersi's love interests in the comics is Makkari, who is played by the female Lauren Ridloff. Here's her role last year in Captain Marvel. So thats why Sersi looks so firmiliar.
Ethnicity: English plus distant Welsh, Scottish, Northern Irish, and Dutch. His distant roots include German, French, and Spanish, and, going back to the 1400s and 1500s, he also has remote Italian, Polish, Lithuanian, Austrian, and Danish ancestry.
Athletic Ability: Fencing. Horse Riding.
Family: His mother, Deborah Jane (Catesby), is a playwright and artist, and his father, David Richard Harington, is a retired businessman and descended from Viscounts, Dukes, Earls, Baronets, Peers (jheeze posh boi alert)
Trivia: Robert Catesby is his ancestor on his mothers side and was involved in the gunpowder plot to assassinate James the I who is Kit's ancestor on his fathers side. (seriously not joking here)
Role: Dane Whitman The Black Knight
Dane Whitman the third incarnation of the Black Knight and despite being ethnically English. He is American in the comics!!! (surprised?). Descended from Sir Percy of the Round Table (the first Black Knight), its extremely Meta that Kit Harrignton is the chosen actor for this character. Not only is he famed for roles like Jon Snow in Game of Throne, the skills he acquired for the role over lengthly career fits the character well, he has also appeared in historical films like Pompeii, How to train your dragon 2, WWI film Testament of Youth and Gun Powder where he plays his own ancestor Robert Catesby. Interestingly Dane Whitman formed a romantic relationship with Sersi during their time together in the avengers. Whether this will be a love triangle or not between Dane, Sersi and Makkari is not confirmed yet. We can hope Harrington is a perfect casting for the Black Knight.
Height: Estimated around 5'9"
Nationality: Lebanese and American
Athletic Ability: None
Family: Comes from a Lebanese Muslim Family
Trivia: He is homosexual and intends to make a semi-autobiographical film.
Role:??? (possibly Arex)
So Haaz Sleiman has confirmed though his instagram that he is in fact part of the Eternals cast. But the big question remains. Who is he? both who is Haaz Slieman and who is he casted as. Haaz Sleiman himself he was born in Lebanon to a Muslim family and immigrated to the USA at the age of 21. He developed a love for acting where he went on to be the second Asian (the first being British Sri Lankan Selva Rasinglam) and first West Asian/Middle Eastern actor to play Jesus as well as the first Muslim (which he considered an Honour). He played the Abrahamic figure Jonothan in Of Kings and Prophets. His other notable roles are Tarek in The Visitor. Ali in Jack Ryan, Mo in upcoming Breaking Fast, Khalid Ansari in Covert Affairs and a few voice roles in Assassin's Creed I as Malik Al-Sayf and Suleiman the I in Assassin's Creed Revelations. His best known role would be gay Latino Arab Mohammed de la Cruz in Nurse Jackie. Sleiman has had a lot of mixed responses about coming out as a gay Asian Muslim with some members of his own family supporting him whilst others in his family are disowning him and demanding he change his name. Regardless he still has pulled through and continued to act despite not able to ever being able to visit Lebanon safely. In regards to what role he could be playing in Eternals it is almost impossible to pin down due to the amount of actors who dont match the source material. Due to Kevin Feige stating there will be an LGBT character with a family, fans wondered if casting Gay Sleiman could indicate he is a gender swap of a female character one theory suggesting he will be a male gender swap of Ikaris' wife and mother of their child. While this is not confirmed this is a fan theory. Going off Haaz's Lebanese heritage that he shares with co-star Salma Hayek, another possible role is Arex the brother of Ajak (Salma Hayeks character). While information on Arex is scarce it means portraying him as a Homosexual like Haaz himself is still possible. But that remains to be seen for now.
