Sony Releases 'Morbius' Trailer - Confirms MCU Connection!
One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar® winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success soon reveals itself to be a remedy potentially worse than the disease.
If you're not in the loop, Sony owns the rights to Spider-Man and it's vast array of characters including Venom and Morbius, while Tom Holland's Spider-Man has appeared in a few MCU movies thanks to Sony agreeing to share the rights to the character alone, Sony continues to build their own Spider-Verse. There hasn't been a confirming connection between the two cinematic universes until now! At the end of the trailer we see Morbius being spoken to by none other than Spider-Man: Homecoming villain 'Vulture' played by Michael Keaton.
"Michael Morbius," he says in the final scene. "Got tired of doing the whole good guy thing, huh? What's up, Doc?"
The scene has fans speculating where in the timeline this places Morbius, since Vulture was sent to prison at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming. Rumours have also been circulating that Tom Holland is in talks to cameo in Venom 2, further confirming the expanded MCU.
If it's hard to get your head around it, think of Sony's Spider-Verse as Disney's MCU's cousin!
