Michael B.Jordan Producing A Static Shock Movie
Updated: Oct 31, 2020
Black Lightning has become a success over at DC and now has officially crossed over as part of the CW Arrowverse following Crisis on Infinite Earths. Many fans have been waiting for the introduction of Virgil Hawkins aka Static Shock a young African American meta human with Electrical powers much like Black Lightning. Whilst the two heroes are typically independent of each other (they were from different universe originally), Young Justice had a moment between the two in which Black Lightning offered to mentor Static Shock the same way many other Justice League members did so for their Young Justice counter parts.
However we may not be seeing the two meet just yet as Creed and Black Panther star Michael B.Jordan is set to produce a Static Shock movie as part of the DCEU. Back in August, during the first part of the DC Fandome Event, one of the biggest surprises was the Return of the Milestone comics and their creative team (including Reginald Hudlin) announced a Movie based on their character Static.
Michael B.Jordan stated to The Hollywood Reporter that : "I’m proud to be a part of building a new universe centred on black superheroes; our community deserves that," . “Outlier Society [his production company] is committed to bringing to life diverse comic book content across all platforms and we are excited to partner with Reggie and Warner Bros on this initial step."
