Hawkeye Set Photos Reveal Hailee Steinfeld Suited Up As Kate Bishop.
Updated: Apr 29, 2021
The Hawkeye series has had some updates to its cast, joining the him will be Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez aka Echo, Tony Dalton as Jacques Duquesne aka Swordsman, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova aka Blackwidow II and Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop aka Hawkeye II. While we can speculate on each of the characters and their role based on their comics counterpart. We have a few on set photos of Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop with the purple outfit and archery gear.
Its likely that Kate Bishop will be an apprentice to Hawkeye though how and why he takes her on as a protege it is not clear. It's very likely she will be replacing him soon after the series or at least being his counterpart for a potential young avengers team. But what of the other cast members?
Alaqua Cox is a newcomer being a deaf Native American actress makes her an appropriate fit for Maya Lopez who shares the same disability and ethnic origins. Maya Lopez is another deaf superhero in the MCU next to Lauren Ridloff's Makkari. Though her powers are described as being able to watch and replicate any fighting style she sees. Sounds firmiliar? Yes this is the same power set as Tony Masters aka Taskmaster who is the villain of the up coming Blackwidow movie. Whilst both her and Taskmasters abilities are called Photographic reflexes, hers are natural whilst Tony Masters are artificial from a serum. This series could imply Taskmaster as a greater scope villain and Echo having some kind of connection to him. Why do we think this? well someone from the Blackwidow film will be showing up too.
Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova will appear in the series. She will be in the Blackwidow film and is believed to be the MCU's new Black Widow after the death of Natasha Romanoff. Her appearance in the Hawkeye series could be due to Natasha and Clint's close friendship but it is also possible she is involved in whatever storyline Echo is if Echo is in fact connected to Taskmaster and Yelena will fight him in the Black Widow film. Speaking of Masters. We also have Tony Dalton would will appear as Swordmaster, the teacher of Hawkeye. Whilst Swordmaster is a typically a villain who Hawkeye abandons to be a hero, this version could either be tied to Hawkeye's stint as the swordsman Ronin as we see Hawkeye as a katana welding crusader in Endgame. Alternatively if Swordmaster is in fact a villain like the comic books, he could be the one training Echo much like how Kingpin did to her in the films and maybe Swordmaster could be in league with Taskmaster. Maybe they have their own group? the Masters of Evil? Ok that's stretching it but sounds possible right?
