DC's Black Adam Adds Aladdin's Marwan Kenzari

Now we have covered Black Adam before and compared it to Marvel's Ms.Marvel and Shang Chi franchises. Ms Marvel and Shang Chi being the first Marvel projects to have South Asian lead and East Asian lead superhero projects respectively. So when DC announces Black Adam a Middle Eastern character, the fact they didn't cast a Middle Eastern actor for the lead role seemed like a missed opportunity. I mean how many Superhero films or shows actually have a Middle Eastern lead? think about it. DC could have easilymarketed the film as the first superhero movie with a Middle Eastern lead actor as Middle Eastern Character.

Anyways it seems lately Black Adam will be adding Middle Eastern actors as supporting characters at least. With Iranian-Spanish American Sarah Shahi cast as Adrianna Tomaz, we also have been given news that Dutch Tunisian actor Marwan Kenzari will be in Black Adam in an unspecified role. Marwan is best known for Dutch films like Rabat, Wolf and Instinct, whilst also known for English language films like Aladdin and Old Guard. Playing both heroic and villainous roles throughout his career. We actually recommended Marwan Kenzari as a potential choice for Nabu in our Middle Eastern actors for Black Adam article. Though it could be possible that Kenzari will portray a different Middle Eastern DC character like Amon Tomaz the younger brother of Adrianna and the brother in law of Black Adam himself. But that remains to be seen. Some rumours point to him potentially playing the Villain Ishmael Gregor a Russian mobster who steals the powers of 6 devils giving himself the acronym Sabbac: Satan, Aym, Belial, Beelzebub, Asmodeus and Crateis. Essentially being the eviler counterpart to Black Adam. This would means Ishmael will likely be changed to Egyptian or Kahndaqi origin if this is the case.
