Ben Affleck Returning as The Batman in 'The Flash' Movie!

The Batfleck is back.

Ben Affleck has reversed his decision to hang up his cowl and will once again return to play Batman/Bruce Wayne in the upcoming solo movie for "The Flash."

Director Andy Muschietti confirmed the news with Vanity Fair, explaining Affleck's role will be "a very substantial part of the emotional impact of the movie."

Ben Affleck’s Batman will mentor Barry Allen in the upcoming The Flash movie. The news of the actor returning to the role ahead of DC FanDome ignited the fanbase. So many people wished for Affleck to return to the company’s films after Zack Snyder’s Justice League became a reality. Now, Batman will be steering Barry Allen through some temporal shenanigans in The Flash.

Andy Muschietti, the film’s director said, “He’s a very substantial part of the emotional impact of the movie. The interaction and relationship between Barry and Affleck’s Wayne will bring an emotional level that we haven’t seen before. It’s Barry’s movie, it’s Barry’s story, but their characters are more related than we think. They both lost their mothers to murder, and that’s one of the emotional vessels of the movie. That’s where the Affleck Batman kicks in.”

He would also go stake his case for why this version of Batman is so great in the interview. “His Batman has a dichotomy that is very strong which is his masculinity—because of the way he looks, and the imposing figure that he has, and his jawline —but he’s also very vulnerable,” Muschietti detailed “He knows how to deliver from the inside out, that vulnerability. He just needs a story that allows him to bring that contrast, that balance.”

Affleck knows that vulnerability played a huge role in getting him to take on being Batman after so many actors have made their mark on the character.

Argue as much as you want on The Batfleck, but you gotta admit Snyder's take on The Dark Knight in Batman V Superman was super accurate, especially in the warehouse fight scene!

Ben isn't the only former Batman who will be back for the film. As the movie is an adaptation of the popular Flashpoint comic arc, it will explore the DC multiverse -- and have Michael Keaton reprise his role from Tim Burton's films. Fans of the Arrowverse will know how the Multiverse works, so it shouldn't be too complicated to explain again. We're hoping more news will be revealed such as Grant Gustin appearing in the movie too!

All will be revealed at DC Fandome!
