Asian American Basketball Film "Boogie" Will Star Street Fighter's Mike Moh

Updated: Apr 29, 2021

So we've recently did an article on British Asian Athletes in Martial Arts and Combat Sports and we will look to be doing more article on British Asians in other sports like Boxing and Football. But an Asian American sports film is being made across the pond called "Boogie." The film has released a trailer recently so lets take a look.

Written and Directed by Eddie Huang (The Producer and Writer for Fresh off the Boat). The film centres around the fictional aspiring Basketballer Alfred "Boogie" Chin (portrayed by Newcomer Taylor Takahashi) and his struggles as an Asian American in a Sport where the Asian Community are heavily excluded and underrepresented. Joining Takahashi in the cast will be Jorge Lendeborg Jr (Bumblebee, Spiderman: Home Coming, Alita Battle Angel) as his Boogie's best friend, Taylor Paige (The Baxters, Hit the Floor) as Boogie's Love Interest, Rapper Pop Smoke in his final role before his passing (RIP) and finally Street Fighter's Mike Moh (Empire, Inhumans, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) as "Melvin" possibly a friend or relative of Boogie. We look forward to seeing the Asian American Athlete experience put to film.

Mike Moh best known for his role as Ryu
